Do you know why the soil is compacted?
The biggest headache for farmers is soil hardening, which seriously affects the quality and yield of crops. Soil compaction is the enemy of agricultural production.
Why does soil compact?
Soil compaction is the phenomenon that the surface layer of the soil due to the lack of organic matter and poor structure, the structure is destroyed and the material is dispersed under the action of external factors such as irrigation or rainfall, and the surface is hardened by the cohesive force after drying. It belongs to the deterioration of the physical properties of the soil.
1. Lack of organic matter
Soil organic matter is an important indicator to measure soil fertility, but it is a process of consumption of soil organic matter after crops have been planted for many years. If organic fertilizer is not applied enough, it will inevitably lead to a lack of organic matter.
2. Poor structure
Refers to soil aggregate structure deterioration, which is mainly related to fertilization habits. If chemical fertilizers are applied excessively, the sulfate ions, gas ions, and phosphate ions left in the soil by chemical fertilizers will combine with sodium ions in the soil to form salt, resulting in bad salinization and reduced soil activity. The activity of microorganisms is also reduced, and the structure of soil aggregates becomes poor, resulting in the compaction of soil.
3. Waterlogging in the rainy season
Many crops will suffer from waterlogging during the rainy season every year, and soil damage will block the soil pores after being soaked in water for a long time. Especially after the flood recedes, the intertillage loosening is still not carried out, resulting in soil compaction, poor air permeability, and relatively sticky and fine soil in the plowing layer. After being exposed to the sun, the water will be lost, and the surface soil ash will show the characteristics of “extremely hard, airtight, and powdery after being crushed”
Harm of soil compaction
1. Low fertilizer absorption rate
After the soil is compacted, it is difficult for the fertilization on the soil surface to act on the root absorption area, resulting in a sharp drop in the fertilizer absorption rate.
2. Hinder root growth and development
The structure of the compacted soil is destroyed, the soil becomes hard and lacks oxygen, and the extension of the crop root system in the soil is severely hindered.
Obstacles, the vitality of the root system is down, and the respiration of the root cells is weakened.
3. Chlorosis, yellowing, weak growth
After soil compaction, the effectiveness of fertilizers and root system absorption are both restricte. And the aboveground parts often show yellowing due to lack of nutrients, weak growth, dead trees, poor quality, and low yield.
4. Affect soil microbial activity
Soil degradation includes physical degradation, chemical degradation and biological degradation. When the former two occur seriously, it will inevitably lead to biological degradation. After biological degradation, soil damage will lead to imbalance of flora and serious soil-borne diseases.
The principle of PGA breaking soil compaction
Wellyou Tech polyglutamic acid is fermented by microorganisms. Its main principle is that organic or inorganic fertilizers applied to the soil will be better developed. And the beneficial microbial community in the soil will be gradually restored. The secretion of microorganisms can dissolve the phosphate in the soil and release phosphorus. At the same time, potassium and trace element cations are also released, and the grain structure is restored in the form of bond bridges, eliminating soil compaction.
At the same time, polyglutamic acid provides good buffering capacity of the soil. It can balance soil acidity, alkalinity and salinity. When use polyglutamic acid, the content of organic matter in soil increased by ≥10%, which is conducive to the formation of aggregate structure, and the physical properties of the particle size between 1-5μm. The clay content increased by 1.73-3.13%. The soil bulk density decreased by 3.73%. Improve the water and fertilizer retention capacity of the soil and prevent soil compaction.
