Succinic acid (SA) is also known as Amber Acid. It is an intermediate for the synthesis of various organic substances, and an important raw material for the manufacture of drugs. Used in food, medicine, chemical industry, agriculture and other fields.

Compared with the petrochemical synthesis production process, the production of SA by microbial fermentation is purely natural and pollution-free, and it is food grade without further processing. Fully biodegradable, it uses renewable plant resources as raw materials, reducing environmental pollution caused by chemical synthesis processes.

In agriculture, mainly as a plant growth regulator. SA can promote plant growth and development and improve plant yield and quality.

Application of succinic acid in planting

  1. Seed treatment. Soaking seeds in an aqueous solution containing succinic acid can promote seed germination and seedling growth. This method is commonly used in field crops.
  2. Rootstock treatment. Spraying fruit tree rootstocks with succinic acid aqueous solution before propagation can promote their growth and development and improve the grafting survival rate.

Application in fruit tree pruning

  1. Winter pruning. When pruning fruit trees in winter, we can apply SA aqueous solution to the wound to help heal the wound and prevent infection and the invasion of pests and diseases.
  2. Summer pruning. When pruning fruit trees in summer, you can spray a certain concentration of succinic acid aqueous solution on the pruned branches and fruits, which can promote the occurrence and growth of new shoots and increase fruit size and yield.

In flower cultivation

1. Flower growth regulation.  Mixing succinic acid and other fertilizers and spraying it on the leaves of flowers can promote the growth and development of flowers and improve the flowering rate and flower quality.

2. Extend the freshness period of flowers. Spraying succinic acid aqueous solution on flowers can extend the freshness period and viewing time of flowers.

In lawn management

  1. Lawn growth regulation. Mixing succinic acid and other fertilizers and spraying them on the lawn can promote the growth and development of the lawn and increase the lawn coverage and grass amount.
  2. Lawn mowing.  After lawn mowing, we can spray an appropriate amount of succinic acid aqueous solution to help the recovery and growth of the lawn and improve the drought resistance and heat resistance of the lawn.

In addition, SA can also enhance the stress resistance of plants. Such as the adaptability to environmental stresses, drought, high temperature, low temperature, salinity and alkali. And  SA can improve the plant’s survivability and risk resistance. For example, it can increase crop yield by 10% to 20%, control barley smut, and can be used as an additive to herbicides.
