Polyglutamic acid(γ-PGA) is a special anionic natural polymer, which is a homopolyamide formed by amide bonds between α-amine groups and γ-carboxyl groups. It contains tens of thousands of glutamic acid molecules. Molecular weights vary from 50,000 to 3 million Daltons. With excellent water solubility and strong adsorption, it can be used as water retaining agent, heavy metal ion deactivator, flocculant, sustained release agent and drug carrier, etc.

Polyglutamic acid (γ-PGA) has the following properties:

1. Environmental friendliness
2. Excellent chelating adsorption capacity
3. Water absorption and moisturizing ability
4. Improves soil and good biodegradability.

As a fertilizer additive, polyglutamic acid has the advantages of less addition, low cost of use, and good growth promotion. The synergistic fertilizer with polyglutamic acid has significant effects of water retention, fertilizer retention, yield increase, stress resistance, and crop quality improvement. Polyglutamic acid (γ-PGA) is also an excellent biostimulant.

The Features of Polyglutamic acid (Poly γ-glutamic acid, γ-PGA):

1. Adjust the pH value and improve the soil:

Polyglutamic acid(γ-PGA) has excellent buffering power to acid and alkali, can effectively balance the pH value of soil.  Avoid soil acidification, salinization and hardening caused by long-term use of chemical fertilizers.

2. Rooting and strong roots, improving crop stress resistance:

Polyglutamic acid(γ-PGA) can promote the division and growth of root cells and the germination of new roots. It can improve nutrient absorption capacity, and ensure that roots are protected from damage under adverse conditions such as drought, rain, and severe cold.

3. Conserve water and fertilizer, improve fertilizer utilization rate:

Polyglutamic acid(γ-PGA) contains super hydrophilic group – carboxyl group, which can effectively reduce the loss of water in the soil. At the same time, it can block the combination of sulfate, phosphate, other medium and trace elements, such as calcium and magnesium to form low-soluble salts, and improve utilization rate of fertilizers.
