IDS (Iminodisuccinic acid sodium salt) is a 100% water-soluble and completely biodegradable chelating agent. It is new environmentally friendly that can replace traditional chelating agent.

Chelating agents have a wide variety of applications including agricultural nutrients, household cleaners, industrial cleaners, paper and photography industries. Chelated trace elements in agricultural applications can help crops supplement trace elements, thereby it can improve crop yield and economic benefits.

EDTA is a chelating agent that can maintain iron and other trace elements, so we use it in agriculture to supplement trace elements for crops. However, traditional chelating agents are not highly soluble and are difficult to be biodegraded. They generally accumulate in the environment and have been detected in rivers, lakes, soil and water treatment processes, causing environmental problems. This impels to develop environmentally friendly chelating agents.

IDS emerged as a green and environmentally friendly alkaline chelating agent. It is an amino polycarboxylic acid chelating agent like EDTA, DTPA and NTA. It has the characteristics of phosphorus-free, non-toxic, pollution-free and easy to biodegrade. The anions of IDS can form a coordination geometry with metal cations.

IDS has strong chelating ability for calcium, magnesium, zinc and other transition metal ions, especially for copper, iron, manganese, nickel and other heavy metal elements. It is better than ordinary chelating agents such as EDTA. It can be used in conjunction with other chelating dispersants, with better effect.

Application of IDS in agriculture:

 

1. As chelating agent in fertilizers and pesticides.

The stability and bioavailability of IDS chelating fertilizers are much higher than those of citric acid, amino acids, and humic acid complex fertilizers. It is the most effective way to supplement trace elements in crop growth. It is safe to use, can improve the physiological function and yield of crops, and is the most ideal choice for increasing the yield and quality of crops.

2.  A new type of amino acid-based chelating agent.

It is an alternative product of amino polycarboxylic acid chelating agents such as EDTA, DTPA and NTA. It is environmentally friendly and efficient, easily soluble in water, easy to absorb, and has no antagonistic effect.
