Plant biostimulants are kinds of “substance comprising certain ingredients and microorganisms which, when applied to the plant itself or to its Physiological functions, nutrient absorption, abiotic stress resistance and crop quality improvement of plants, but not related to nutritional components.” These substances are mainly based on natural raw materials. And they can be used to improve the physiological and biochemical processes of plants in ultra-small and small doses . “Even, the origin of these natural raw materials has its strict geographical limitations and cannot be replaced casually.

Therefore, plant biostimulants are neither pesticides nor traditional fertilizers, nor are they plant hormones or plant growth regulators.

Plant biostimulants are biologically active substances from nature. They mainly play a role in biological stimulation and physiological regulation, but cannot provide nutrients for plants. So it is recommended to use with various fertilizers.

The effect of plant biostimulants on crops mainly depends on crop species, soil original state, crop planting and climate conditions and other factors.

Plant biostimulants have the following effects:

  1. Increase the stress resistance of plants, such as environmental stresses such as extreme temperature, irregular rainfall and climate change;
  2. Improve the ability of plants to control water, which is helpful for survival under drought conditions;
  3. Promote plant physiology, biochemistry and photosynthesis, make better use of natural resources, and reduce nutrient loss;
  4. Improve the quality attributes of crops and obtain higher economic returns;
  5. Improve the physical and chemical properties of soil, stimulate the population and function of beneficial soil microorganisms, and promote the healthy development of soil.

The target of biostimulants is the crop itself, which can improve the physiological and biochemical state of the plant, improve the fertilizer effect and fertilizer utilization rate, improve the level of crop resistance to adversity, and also improve the final yield of crops and the quality of agricultural products.
